Volunteer Opportunities

ARORA volunteers are extremely committed to encouraging Arkansans to register to become organ, tissue and eye donors. The majority of ARORA's volunteers are either donor family members or recipients. However, some are not; instead they simply believe in the power of donor registration and want to support ARORA's donor education efforts.

Aside from their commitment to organ and tissue donation, what all ARORA volunteers have in common is that they must be thoroughly informed about the donation and registration process. Frequently volunteers work in situations in which they are asked questions about donation and ARORA, and must be able to respond accurately and concisely. That is why all potential volunteers must complete a mandatory ARORA Volunteer Training. Volunteers who would like to share their personal experience with donation as a donor family member or organ or tissue recipient are strongly encouraged to attend a special training offered to ARORA's volunteer public speakers. The training is provided by Transplant Speakers International (TSI). Both the ARORA basic volunteer training and the TSI training are usually offered twice each year.

Once trained, volunteers may support ARORA Public Education staff, Hospital Development staff, Donor Family Services, staff as well as other ARORA staff members in a number of ways, including:

  • Promoting organ, tisse and eye donation at health and community Fairs
  • Public speaking at schools, hospitals, civic and social groups, and workplaces
  • Speaking at hospital trainings
  • Volunteering in various capacities at Donor Family and Public Education events
